The CO₂ laser operates with a gas laser tube emitting infrared light at a wavelength of ~10.6 μm, ideal for processing non-metallic materials.
How does the process work?
- A gas mixture (CO₂, nitrogen, helium) is activated by electrical voltage.
- Laser light is created in the infrared spectrum.
- Light is directed via mirrors and lenses to the material.
- Laser heat melts, vaporizes, or burns the surface layer—depending on the operation (cutting/engraving).
