CO₂ LASER

(Carbon Dioxide Laser)

The CO₂ laser operates with a gas laser tube emitting infrared light at a wavelength of ~10.6 μm, ideal for processing non-metallic materials.
A gas mixture (CO₂, nitrogen, helium) is activated by electrical voltage. Laser light is created in the infrared spectrum. Light is directed via mirrors and lenses to the material. Laser heat melts, vaporizes, or burns the surface layer—depending on the operation (cutting/engraving). How does the process work?
Primarily used for cutting, engraving, and marking non-metals: Wood All plastic types Cardboard and paper Leather and textiles Glass and ceramics Popular uses: Gift personalization Plastic cutting for advertising Applications of CO₂ lasers: Advantages of CO₂ lasers: Fine, detailed cutting/engraving lines Quiet, non-contact process
